"Building Resilience in Your Child" Free Wellness Talk

  • Lazy Acres 2080 North Bellflower Boulevard Long Beach United States (map)

All are invited to attend this free wellness talk for parents at Lazy Acres. Marlene Martin, an Educational & Developmental Consultant and Parent Coach, and Dr. Cecilia Bettencourt, a Pediatric and Prenatal Chiropractor, will be sharing essential skills on how to build resilience in your child.

Dr. Cecilia Bettencourt is a local Chiropractor with a particular passion for pediatric, prenatal and postnatal care. When it comes to caring for kiddos with sensory challenges, sensory disorders, and sensory processing issues we often find that these children are in a constant state of stress from an overwhelmed nervous system that is unable to integrate and adapt from the world around them. As a Chiropractor, I work with the potential that is already present and then build on it through an approach that encompasses all facets of health. Not only do we focus on strengthening your child from the inside, but by balancing both sensory input and output processes naturally we can see a massive shift in these kiddos when it comes to social situations, communication, and connection.

Marlene provides Families with the knowledge and understanding needed to create individualized, comprehensive programs that support children to thrive. Through her work, Marlene brings Families peace of mind through a DEEPER UNDERSTANDING of their Child's Complete Profile. Everyday, Marlene meets confused parents who are unsure of what is best for their child/children, and are further frustrated by professionals who do not seem to fully understand. This creates a feeling of aloneness for family members who already feel isolated by their experiences as parents and caregivers. Marlene’s mission is to make sure that Families know that they are not alone, they are not crazy, and there is always a way to be more connected and in tune with their children and their needs!

In today’s fast paced world, the expectations placed on children are higher than ever and as a result, they are more stressed than ever. With the increase of sensory and regulatory issues, we invite all Parents and Caregivers of those struggling with issues such as focusing, connecting, communicating, and socializing to join us as we outline some practical tools and strategies to help overcome the challenges you may face as a parent.

Dr. Cecilia Bettencourt D.C and Educational Consultant Marlene Martin are here to provide you with effective takeaways that you can start implementing immediately, all while answering some of the questions that elude parents once their child has been labeled with a sensory or regulatory issue.

Cecelia and Marlene will provide answers to some of the questions that elude parents. They will outline practical tools and strategies that help to overcome challenges you face as a parent today.

All parents want their children to thrive as they have the experiences of childhood. Unfortunately, this world is too fast and too much is happening at once to allow children to develop the ability to bounce back from stressful situations. Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly and completely from challenges. In our talk, we will dive into how to build resilience in your child.
